This piece is a good introduction to my work and my passions. It is a representation of the LDS(Mormon) view of God’s plan of salvation. It is pieced together by hundreds of references from LDS scriptures and religious leaders. It is still in progress.
I have gained insight into several general principles of information graphic design while designing this poster. Here are a few examples:
- What is left out can be just as important as what is included.
- Large problems are solved by breaking the problem up into smaller pieces, solving the smaller pieces and then putting the pieces back together again.
- Reconstructing a complex process visually can magnify coherence or contradiction within the process.
- Good composition applies to concept-formation as well as layout and shapes.
- Seeing the big picture requires abstraction and summarization.
- Generalizations often create confusion when the building blocks of the generalization are not explicit and clear in one’s mind.
- A good visualization of complex processes should make explicit the particulars of reality that lead to generalized concepts.
- Insights derived from seeing the big picture are often more valuable than the explicit pieces of the picture.
- Visualization can turn complexity into simplicity.
- Principles of information graphic design can be applied to life when integrated correctly.
Happy New Year!

This looks really great. Religion in general is an area that needs better design. Definitely something I want a closer look at.
This is really cool. I’d love to see more details of the whole.
Welcome Gavin. This is really beautiful and I appreciate all the thought that you put into your post.
I agree with Stephen. Feel free to share cropped in shots as well if you like. Thanks.
What a great project. I especially liked your isights and learnings from the project. I, too, would be interested in seeing a readable image, if you are up for sharing.
insights, not isights.
Do you think I could get a pdf of this? It is beautiful.
