I don’t have much to show today other than some early experimentation with a triangle pattern. The triangle has been showing up a lot lately, and I see that it has rubbed off on me. I’m playing with some concepts for a poster and I keep coming back to this shape. Imagery is not original – I’m just using stuff I found online for now….
Hopefully these will turn into something more interesting in the near future.

Dude these are way easier to see and understand than the one you showed me the other night. The pattern is really cool and creates a really interesting and engaging texture when the images are playing in there. I think that the eagle is working best for me so far. The flipped images inside create a really interesting tension.
Ya – I like the eagle one a lot – the subtlety of the outer white triangles. This could go in a lot of interesting directions.
This is a really cool effect. Do you mind sharing a bit about the process? Did you make triangle masks? You don’t need to go into too much detail, but I’d definitely be interested. I love the mountains and sky ones. I would put a print like that on my wall for sure.
Sure, I just created the triangles in Illustrator and used the pathfinder tool to make them all one object (I think you have to expand it before you can mask anything), then just mask the image.
The eagle one is way cool. I like the mountain ones as well, but they feel a bit obvious (triangle = mountain) conceptually. The eagle seems to be more pleasantly random. It also adds a nice organic feel to a grid that is so rigid.
Also, I hate to publicly call you out on this, but can you please link your images to the image file rather than the attachment page? It has to be that way so the light box works. Thanks.
How embarrassing. I just changed it as I’m not exactly sure how the light box thingy works. I’ll see if I can figure it out next time.
Haha. I had actually already fixed it before I wrote my comment and you changed it back. I probably should have mentioned that I did that. Sorry.
