I’ve been wanting to get back to drawing and illustration again lately. My son created a great opportunity for me to do so last weekend. He was playing with his cars on the sunny front porch and asked me to join him. We spent a nice afternoon, collecting, arranging and sketching cars. I compiled the results into a package that I submitted to iStock to add to my gallery. I was surprised to get a quick email back asking me to break the lot up into smaller groups. It’s interesting to see how different reviewers respond to images I send to them. These are usually very similar in design and technique but will illicit very different responses at times. It can be frustrating to have to go back and rework, but I usually can take away something from having a new perspective given. At any rate, it was tons of fun to do and now I’m looking at my kids’ messy playroom with new eyes.

These are great. My favorites are the fork lift, the mini bus and the classic cars.
So was that reviewer asking for fewer cars, then? That seems odd.
Thanks! I like the forklift too. It might become another series of work vehicles. Here’s the exact message I got:
++Please split up into smaller sets.++
The individual elements in this file are too small to be seen in the preview thumbnail clearly.
Please limit each file to one theme, with each element clearly visible in the preview display.
I think it is primarily a technical issue with the thumbnail legibility and a mixed theme – though like I said I’ve have many others like this approved before. So, yeah, I’ll just break them up a bit and resubmit several files. Might be more profitable that way! We’ll see.
These are great! That little tugboat needs to be on a baby or toddler shirt. Though the mystery machine van at the top may be my favorite.
I love the tug too! To me it was a silly addition to a bunch of cars. Looks like I’ll be drawing more boats to build a set around it.
I am loving the blue vehicle upper left corner (Model T?) These all have so much personality. You must have had a lot of fun to have created so many!
I’ve had the same issues with istock before. Once I got four different reviewers, each asking to fix a different problem submission after re-submission. It can be frustrating. But it sure is a relief to get that email saying it’s been accepted. Good luck!
