I just received my Wacom intuous 5 touch today and am testing it out. So far I’m madly in love with it and may never go home.

Nice! I got the large Intuos 5 a few months ago. It is pretty nice, but I still haven’t messed around with the tough capabilities yet. Now I just need to learn how to paint digitally.
This thing is miles beyond the Wacom bamboo I was using. I’m excited to start painting with it. Might actually produce lol! This was done in Autodesk sketchbook express which came free with the tablet. It’s a nice app. – I just have to break some of my Adobe shortcut behaviors.
Though I have never really used a tablet, I still find myself jealous. Or maybe it’s just your drawing skills that I envy. I really like this sketch.
Thanks!
I have always been intrigued by tablets. Not knowing how to use one, I’ve always been hesitant to try it out. I’m curious how the pressure you can put on the pen translates to the illustrations you’re doing? I’ve always thought (hoped) that it would be more akin to actually drawing and the pressure would help with thick/thin line qualities, etc…
There is a different feel to using a tablet that can take a little getting used to. One of the hardest things to overcome is the disconnect between hand and eye if you are used to seeing your lines on paper and not on a screen. This tablet has great pressure sensitivity and the line will thicken and / or darken as you apply more pressure (depending on the tool and settings). These controls are modifiable so you can get the feel you want. This one can even detect the angle of the pen and that affects the quality of line as well.
