There’s a great little furniture store in downtown SLC that refurbishes/repurposes old furniture called Urban Antiques. Last time I was there I spotted this little gem which had just come into the shop, a 1970′s Castelli® chair. It’s a great example of Italian mid-century modern furniture and I just had to have it. I got it for an amazing price with my purchase of a custom-made coffee table and side table. Sure, it’s kinda rough around the edges but I think that with a little elbow grease, some sandpaper, and a lot of polishing It’s gonna be amazing.
Next step: Sanding… (to be continued)

As if we didn’t need any more reasons to hate you, John. It’s beautiful and looks like a great project.
Please oh please do not lose any screws!
This is really wonderful, and seems a simple enough project too. What a fantastic find.
Hello, I have 17 of these chairs and am looking for a way to upcycle or reupholster them. Also looking for a buyer.
Cool! Any new post on the process of the sanding coming up?
I have just bought 4, but are a bit scuffed up and am very curious how you exactly did it.
Thanks!
