So, it turns out that envisioning and even designing a game for mobile devices is a lot easier than actually creating the thing. My brother and I have been working on just such an endeavor for the last 8 or so months and let me tell you that it is a huge undertaking. They seem so simple on the surface, but even the simplest program or app or whatever is surprisingly complex and tricky.
I am now on the third design overhaul and I thought I would break my veil of secrecy to hopefully get some good feedback and thoughts. I don’t want to go too much into the functionality for now, but I would like to know if you find it visually appealing. If you saw somebody tapping and swiping away at this on their iPad while riding the train, would you want to find out what it was all about? Is there anything you specifically don’t like about it? Etc.
Thanks. I really appreciate your thoughts.
ps. I’m testing some new tools for linking facebook and the blog a little better so please be patient if weird things happen.

I’m just commenting as a test. Though I do like how things are turning out, I understand that it would be a bit self-serving if I said much about it.
Synced comments! I didn’t even know it was possible.
It’s a brave new world. Though it doesn’t look like the edits come across if you change your facebook comment later. Oh well. I guess you can’t have everything.
I’m still really intrigued by this and how the game works. First glance it looks cool, but without seeing someone playing it, the static image isn’t fully clear what the game is (I remember what the premise is, but looking objectively). Seeing someone play it however, would be clearly understandable how to play. Dig it!
Visually appealing? Yes. Nice colors. Overall it seems a little dark though…may I venture to guess that the “buttons” (if that’s what they are) light up? Nice line texture on the larger color fields—will they need to show up on a small device, iphone etc? Or is this only for a pad? Same with the speaker holes…they seem a bit on the small side.
Yep. This is strictly for the iPad. I’ve done previous designs for the iPhone, though, and it works. I do have to axe extra elements like the speaker holes and the main color field gets smaller. Strategically, though, we will be launching with just the iPad version and then will release the phone version soon after (hopefully).
Can’t wait to see it in action.
